The exhibition showcases works by visual artists Liucija Dervinytė and Kristine Martinova, and sound artist Roberto Becerra. The central point of the pieces in this show is a commentary on the current socio-political and environmental state; it is a narrative woven about the multiplicity of relationships of the realities we experience. Hilado links the expression of the three artists in a common thread.

Liucija presents mixed media works in which she expresses internalized perceptions about the connections of different aspects of the contemporary scene. They synthesize a narrative of awareness, challenges, state of emergency, hope and admiration of nature and human potential. Liucija invites us to reflect on the fundamental ties that unite us, not only with each other, but also with the natural and cultural systems that shape our human existence.

Roberto accompanies the visual pieces with a 30-minute long composition of ambient audio and drone video. He responds to Liucija’s pieces with a sense of meditation, restlessness and resolve. The contemplative tone of the audiovisual sculpture invites a state of wonder and reflection on the themes of the exhibition. An augmented reality piece on the terrace, in collaboration with Kristine, engages with the communication issues that are so familiar in current political events, though in this case it also takes a linguistic turn.

As a whole, Hilado tries to weave fragmented pieces together to create a coherent and hopeful unity.

Liucija is a visual artist working at the intersection of painting, textiles, and collage. Through her creative practice, she seeks to address current ecological, social, and cultural issues, while reflecting on the relationship and division between humans and nature. Together with Roberto, she co-founded the cultural space Ideas Block in Vilnius, Lithuania. @liucijasmindgarden
